Special Notice: Event Continuity in Uncertain Times

Given the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and its potential effects on global aviation (including flight cancellations, rerouting, and airspace restrictions), we understand that international travel to Bucharest may present challenges for many of you.

The Bucharest Symphony Orchestra and Bucharest Conducting Academy are dedicated to hosting, as usual, a welcoming experience for conductors from every corner of the globe. In the unlikely event that force majeure conditions — such as widespread travel prohibitions or severe disruptions directly linked to the current situation — make it impossible to proceed with the masterclass and competition on the scheduled dates (July 2–10, 2026), we commit to the following:

  • Postpone the entire edition to new dates that preserve the integrity of the program and accommodate as many participants as possible; or
  • If postponement cannot be realized, provide a full refund of all application and participation fees already paid, processed without delay.

Important Note on Costs, Fees, and Liability

The application fee is non-refundable in all circumstances, except in the specific force majeure situations described above, where a full refund of all fees (application and participation) may be issued.

The Bucharest Symphony Orchestra and Bucharest Conducting Academy reserve the right to cancel, postpone, or modify the masterclass and/or competition if the minimum required number of participants is not met, or due to other operational, logistical, or unforeseen factors beyond the Academy’s reasonable control.

In the event of cancellation or postponement by the Academy for any reason, the Academy is only responsible for reimbursing the fees paid for the masterclass, the competition, or both, in accordance with the applicable terms for each situation.

The Academy shall not be responsible for any other costs or expenses incurred by participants. This includes, but is not limited to, flights, accommodation, local transportation, visa fees, travel insurance, or any other personal or incidental expenses. All such costs remain the sole responsibility of each individual participant.

We strongly recommend that all participants arrange flexible travel bookings and obtain comprehensive travel insurance to protect against unforeseen changes.
